As International Specialist Head of Chinese Paintings, Kim Yu is responsible for conducting appraisals and overseeing the bi-annual sales of Chinese paintings in Hong Kong, as well as working closely with colleagues in New York and Europe to further develop the market for Chinese paintings. Mr. Yu began learning traditional Chinese painting at the age of 15 in Taiwan as an apprentice. He studied under Sun Yunsheng, who was a pupil of Zhang Daqian. Mr. Yu is very knowledgeable in the styles of different classical painting schools. Mr. Yu joined Christie’s Taiwan in 1998, assisting with business-getting, appraisals, exhibitions and auction details. Carmen Shek Cerne is Specialist in the Chinese Paintings Department in Hong Kong and Head of Sale for Chinese Contemporary Ink. She joined Christie’s in 2009 as part of the Associate Specialist Training Program. As part of the team Carmen focuses on client advisory and business getting in Hong Kong and overseas; she is also responsible for research and catalogue production. Prior to joining Christie’s Carmen was Assistant Curator at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum at the time when the museum first opened its doors to the public in 2005. Frank Yang is a Specialist in the Chinese Paintings Department at Christie's Hong Kong, as well as Head of Sale for Chinese Modern Paintings. He began his career at Christie's as a trainee specialist. In his role, Frank focuses on client advisory services and business development both in Hong Kong and internationally. He is also responsible for artwork research, catalogue production, and sale curation.
